On Monday 19th September the Year 5 team held a Mini Olympics afternoon. The children had the challenge of designing the events, working out how much equipment would be needed, and getting everyone in to teams. Some of the children volunteered to 'run' each event and the teams rotated around them all.

In week 4 of Term 3 we visited the Corban Estate Arts Centre, where we took part in a lesson titled "Rosalie and Me". The students were focused on looking at the art of an artist who used old road signs to create meaning and messages in her art.

They painted tiles, and stenciled letters, numbers, and symbols on to their tiles to create a composition that told a personal story.

The final product will be on display in our classroom during our Art Exhibition in week 9.

At the beginning of Term 3, Room 16 started our Inquiry "Make your Mark" in to arts from around the world by focusing on the arts of South America, particularly Brazil's Carnaval. The children studied the masks and costumes of the Carnaval and created their own interpretations of them. They also learnt the samba by doing zumba, which they then presented at their assembly.
